Center for People with Disabilities Working with CPWD About CPWD The Center for People with Disabilities (CPWD) started in Boulder County in 1977 and now provides services in five counties. We are one of 400+ Independent Living Centers across the nation which have 51% staff and Board with disabilities. We believe in overcoming barriers, peer based support, empowerment, and accountability for choices. We do not provide any financial assistance, emergency housing or services, transportation, or moving support. Though we can help you identify and research options for assistance, benefits, services, and resources for living on a limited budget. Eligibility You must be age 18+ and have any type of permanent disability. You must actively participate in and benefit from independent living services. What We Can Work on Together * Create a plan for achieving your goals to become independent or maintain your independence. * Improve your independent living skills. * Provide referrals to agencies and community resources. * Share local housing options. * Develop your self-advocacy skills and advocate with you (agencies, care providers, landlords, etc.), as needed. * Support you filling out and managing your paperwork (e.g., Social Security, Housing & Human Services, housing, LEAP, etc.).
